Ragdoll & Cherubim Ragdolls
At Ragdoll Palace TN, we specialize in Stud Book Traditional Ragdolls (SBT) and Stud Book Variant Cherubim (SBV). To truly appreciate Cherubims and their unique breeding as a distinct variety Ragdolls, one must first explore the history of the Ragdoll breed. Ragdoll Cats were created in 1960s by breeder Ann Baker in Riverside, CA, with the intention of developing a, gentle cat that would go limp when held. She began her breeding program with a longhaired white cat named Josephine. Josephine was chosen due to calm personality and because she would go limp when held. Ann also selected a male to bred to a black mitted male named Warbucks, who contributed to going limp as well and his affectionate nature. Various other breeds, including Burmese and Siamese, along with a mix of others with different colors and patterns, were also incorporated into the Ragdoll lineage. In 1975, Ann Baker patented the Ragdoll breed name and then went forward to establish the International Ragdoll Cat Association (IRCA), leading to recognition from other registries. In May 2025, the International Cat Association voted to divide the Ragdoll breed into two color variations: the Stud Book Traditional (SBT) with its characteristic blue eyes and lighter pointed coat, and the Cherubim. Cherubim's are Ragdolls that basically have the Burmese gene or 2 Burmese genes which result the incredible increased dept of color intensity in Ragdolls. Cherubim's continue to have the same personalities and are the incredibly affectionate, dolce nature, as well as the characteristic of going limp when being picked up or held. They are bred to match the traditional Ragdoll colors and personalities but feature a deeper intensity of color. They can also produce kittens in traditional Ragdoll colors, mink, sepia, and solids, with Cherubim colors including black, seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, fawn, red and cream. At Ragdoll Palace TN, we proudly breed all Ragdoll and Cherubim colors, including traditional, mink, sepia, and solids. The picture above represents from right to left the seal color variations of a seal sepia, seal mink and seal traditional all mitted born her at Ragdoll Palace.
